吉他中国专访全民吉他英雄—Neil Zaza
6月1日下午，结束了来华CG3沈阳 长春 哈尔滨 大连巡演的NEIL ZAZA回到北京，做客琴国乐器，获赠MOOER赞助的全套效果器，并参观龙琴音乐培训中心，留念。
之后NEIL ZAZA做客本次中国巡演合作伙伴魔方乐器，接受了吉他中国专访，谈及了这次巡演以及其他广大琴友感兴趣的话题。

Q：Hi, Neil, how are you.

A：Ni hao! I’m good. Very good.

Q：So let’s get started. How did you get started with guitar playing? Like…to get girl’s attention back in school like everybody does?
问：那么我们开始吧。先问一下，你是如何开始吉他演奏的呢？最早也是像其他人一样，为了吸引妹子们的注意力啥的才弹吉他的吗？
A：Yeah. First of all, I always loved music. So it’s always been a passion of mine to just listen to music even before I started playing music. But yes! When I was in school, it didn’t hurt to play the guitar to meet girls—which is always good. But I really learned that I loved playing the guitar and for me, the defining moment when I knew I wanted play guitar was when I heard <Van Halen I >—the first Van Halen record. It was a song<Runnin’ With the Devil>, and it was like… As soon as I heard it… That was it. Like literally the first call I wanted play guitar for the rest of my life. That moment changed my life.
答：这个嘛。首先，我一直都热爱音乐。即使在我开始音乐事业之前，对我来说，听音乐也是一种极大的享受。但是没错，一开始，在我还是个学生的时候，用弹吉他来吸引姑娘是件非常棒的事情~。但是后来我发现我是真的爱上了音乐。对于我来说，那个让我知道“我爱弹吉他”的时刻，是当我听到《Van Halen I》，也就是Van Halen 的第一张专辑。里面有首歌叫做《Runnin’ With the Devil》，它是这样的……而当我听到这首歌的时候……我就下定了决心。这是我生命中第一次感受到“我这辈子都想弹吉他”。也正是那个瞬间改变了我的生活。
Q: You were at the PALM EXPO 2012 in Beijing a few days ago. Do you mind to share some info with us?
问：我知道你刚参加了2012 北京国际乐器展，感觉如何。

A：Yes, I was invited by CHERUB to try out their product line of pedals. I was really impressed about how good their new pedals are. I did two shows at the EXPO. There were a lot of fans watching. They all wanted autographs and taking pictures with me. I am so glad to have the opportunity to interact with fans so closely. Thanks CHERUB.
答：嗯，我这次也应CHERUB公司邀请，为他们的CHERUB产品（主要是效果器）做演示，他们的新效果器做得很棒，我在乐器展演示了两场，每天粉丝都很多，然后为他们签名，合影留念，我很开心在乐器展上与粉丝们近距离交流，感谢CHERB。
Q: Wow. OK. I understand that you just finished the CG3 tour in northeastern China. How do you feel about it?
问：哇，真不错。我知道你刚刚结束了CG3在中国东北的巡演。感觉如何？
A: It was great. Every time I play in China, the fans are crazy. I mean that in a good way. They really feel the music and they really appreciate the music and they understand the music, it’s great. So every city I went to was very different. And I sort of like that, you know. When every city has different feel to it and it had different look to it.
答：非常棒。每一次我来中国，粉丝们都很疯狂。我是说，好的疯狂。他们真的用心感受、欣赏音乐，他们能理解我的音乐，那真的非常棒。而且我去的每一个城市都有自己的特色。我喜欢这样，你知道吧。每个城市都有自己独特的味道和模样。
Q: So out of the 4 stops which city impressed you the most and why?
问：那么你去的这4个城市，你印象最深的是哪一个？为什么呢？
A: I can’t say that. Because other cities would be mad at me. I can’t do that. But I like Dalian a lot. I think it’s a really cool city. It was by the water we had a really good time. But I like them all, it was great. The fans are always amazing to me, always supportive. And it’s so funny because even they may not speak English, as soon as I walk in, I hear ‘I’m alright’. So I know the only English they know is ‘I’m alright’, so it’s cool.
答：这个问题没法回答呀！我要是说了，其他的城市就会生我的气~。我不能说。不过我挺喜欢大连的。大连在海边，我们在那很舒服。不过所有城市我都喜欢，都很棒。粉丝们都很热情，也一直在支持我的音乐。而且有件事情很有意思，他们虽然不一定会说英语，但是只要我走进去，我就会听见他们在说“I’m alright”。所以我就知道了可能他们会说的唯一一句英语就是“I’m alright”，那可太酷了。
Q: You’ve been to China like two, three times before?
问：你来中国来过2,3次了吧？
A: I think even more. Five, six now.
答：我记得不止了。5,6次了吧。
Q: Do you have plans to visit China more often in the future? Or maybe do a tour in the south or something.
问：你希望以后多来几次中国吗？或者在南方巡演一次之类的。
A: I would love to. Every time I come to China, I love China more and more. As you know, we were joking before, now I have a Weibo account so now (@neilzaza) I’m Chinese now, doesn’t it? Once you are on Weibo you are Chinese. And I have a Youku account. I love it here and I really can’t tour enough. In fact, I was here two weeks and I feel bad going home because I want to stay.
答：我很愿意再来中国。每一次我来中国，我就更爱这里了。你也知道，我们之前还在开玩笑，现在我有了（新浪）微博账号（@neilzaza），所以我基本就算是个中国人了~。一旦你有了微博，你就是中国人了。而且我还有优酷的账号。我真的很喜欢这儿，我来巡演几次都不够。事实上，我这次在这儿待了两周，我一想到要回美国了我就有些难受，因为我还想留在这儿！
Q: It’s a lot more easier for you to interact with the fans with all this new apps like Weibo or the Chinese Twitter, you know.
问：有了微博，也就是中国版的推特之后，你和中国的粉丝交流互动就方便多了吧。
A: Yeah, exactly. I realize when I flew in that all my new material, all my new videos, and all my…everything, the Chinese fans don’t know about because it’s on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube. So now with this trip, everyone’s help, we changed that.
答：对，没错。我来到中国以后发现我新的音乐、视频，所有的新的东西，我的中国粉丝们都不知道。因为那些都在脸书、推特和油管上。而这次的中国巡演，有了大家的帮助（注册了微博和优酷），我们终于改变了这个现状。
Q: GuitarChina has been your partner and friend for a long, long time, you know. Do you have anything to say to the GuitarChina members?
问：吉他中国和你已经是长久的合作伙伴和好朋友了吧。你有什么想对吉他中国的注册会员们说的吗？
A: Yeah. I love you. GuitarChina from the very beginning, my very first trip is always supporting me and my music and they’ve always, Mel especially, has always been amazing to me. And in this trip has been no different. So GuitarChina is really the voice that I speak to all the Chinese guitar fans so I love you as the fans and I love GuitarChina for allowing me to talk to the fans.
答：当然有啦。我爱你们！吉他中国，从一开始，从我的第一次中国巡演开始，就一直支持着我和我的音乐，而且他们，尤其是小兵，一直都对我非常亲切。这次巡演也是一样。所以吉他中国已然是我与中国吉他爱好者们的交流平台。所以我爱你们，爱粉丝们，也感谢吉他中国给我这个机会能多多与粉丝交流。

Q: I noticed that on your pedal board you have some really tiny pedals from Mooer. Why do you choose them? Like…they are not a big brand or anything.
问：我注意到你的效果器板上有一些非常小巧的魔耳效果器。为什么你要选择它们呢？因为……对你来说，它们也不是什么大牌子。
A: Alright. Yeah, well, first of all, I really love the Mooer pedals and of course they are made in China. And I was at The NAMM Show in California this past year, walking around and I saw these little pedals and I tried them and I thought wow they really really sound great. But for me, for travelling, I can’t bring a big pedal board. You know I want something really small that I can just put them in my carry on bag and… But it turned out that I use them all the time now. So…I don’t know if we got a shot of my pedals but I have all Mooer pedals there. And they are very small like the size of this EP booster. So, I love them and they are Chinese. What more could we want?
答：嗯，对，首先，我真的很喜欢魔耳效果器，而且当然啦它们是中国制造。去年我在加利福尼亚NAMM演出的时候四处闲逛，看见了这些小效果器们，我试了一下，觉得他们的效果非常好。而且对我来说，尤其是巡演的时候，我没法带着大的效果器板。你知道的，我只能选些小的，然后带在随行的包里。结果后来我就习惯了用魔耳效果器了。嗯…我不知道我的效果器们有没有特写，但是我确实有几乎所有的魔耳效果器。他们都很小巧，和这个EP booster差不多大。我爱它们，而且它们是中国制造，你还能奢求什么更好的东西吗？

Q: So not just because of their light weight?
问：所以你选它们并不只是因为它们玲珑小巧？
A: No, I really really really like them! In fact we did this video shoot today I could have used anything. And I use them today so… They are really good.
答：不，我真的是非常非常喜欢它们！事实上我们今天的录制，我可以用任何我想用的效果器，但是我选择了它们。它们真的很棒！
Q: And, you know, like a moment ago, when you were doing the recording, I noticed that you were using Blackstar amps. I was impressed. I mean, I’ve never used a Blackstar before.
问：你知道吗，就在刚才，你在录制视频的时候，我注意到你用了Blackstar的音箱。效果真是太棒了。我从没用过Blackstar的音箱。
A: They sound… That’s a five watt amp .It sounds really…
答：对啊，声音真的很棒，这是5瓦的，这声音真的……
Q: I was impressed.
问：让人印象深刻。
A: Yeah. At home I have a bunch of amps. I use all different kinds. But I do have a few Blackstars I’ve record with them.
答：没错。在家里我有很多音箱，各种类型的。我确实也有一些Blackstar，我录专辑时用过。
Q: So you’ve used them before.
问：所以你以前也用过Blackstar？
A: Yes, yeah! So I have two of them at home and in fact, I have a 1-12 Blackstar Series One 200 that I used for my last two records. The records are called <212> and <Clyde the Cat> and I would run a bunch of amps. It always sounds very good. So, it’s five watt amp.
答：没错。在家里我有两台Blackstar。我有一台1-12 Blackstar Series One 200，我在录制我最近的两张专辑时候用过。这两张专辑一张叫做《212》，另一张是《Clyde the Cat》，我用了很多种音箱。听起来非常棒，而且这又是5瓦的。
Q: We’ve also collected a few questions on Weibo. One of the questions was that, you know, a fan of yours is wondering if you could show him some, you know, if you have some secret techniques about sweeping.
问：我们也从微博上收集了一些问题。其中你的一个粉丝问道，你能不能展示一些扫拨的技巧，你有没有什么秘诀之类的？
A: Oh about sweeping, ok. The secret of sweeping is you have to do it slow. Because if you don’t do it slow, then this hand goes crazy, and this hand goes crazy. So it’s always about making sure that the hands are locking together. So if you get something really slow. For sweeping you want be sure that the pick is all down and all up. But you don’t want it individually pick each one. You want it fall at the next string, that’s the key. And actually for me, I don’t keep the pick straight. I actually…like a paint brush. So it goes really smooth so… But all that is just shapes. Also I will palmute. Just to get a little bit cleaner. So if I do a fast sweep. I’m palm muting. So it’s cleaning up a little bit.
答：哦，扫拨，没问题。扫拨的秘诀就是你必须放慢速度。因为如果你不放慢速度，你右手进入癫狂状态，你的左手也就跟着疯狂了。所以你必须把两只手良好地结合起来。所以如果你这样慢慢弹……扫拨的时候你的拨片是一直向下或者一直向上的。你不需要一根弦一根弦地弹，只要让拨片自然地落到下一根弦上就行了，这就是关键。而且就我而言，我不喜欢把拨片竖直起来，我会这样……就像拿着一把刷子，这样一来比较流畅。但这些都只是形式。我可以制音试一下，这样声音会更清晰。所以如果我扫拨得快的话……那现在我制音……这样声音更清晰一点。
Q: You just had the Weibo account like a few days ago and now you have over 1000 fans. You know I noticed that a few days ago when you were doing the show and, you know, all the fans down there they were singing ‘I’m alright’ along with you. So I’m just wondering, are there any new songs coming out? Or do you have a new record coming out any time soon or…?
问：你几天前才刚申请了微博账号，而现在你就有1000多个粉丝了。我也注意到几天前演出的时候，所有粉丝都在和你一起唱“I’m alright”。所以我就在想，你最近有出一些新歌吗？或者有新专辑的消息吗？
A: Yes, yes. In a fact, this is been the problem with me being in America and not being able to get my music to China. So I have actually, since I been here, I’ve released two records. One is called<212>, I’m really really proud of that record. It has some great songs on it. And then I have a new record I just released a few months ago. It’s called <Clyde the Cat>. And I’m really proud of that record too. And I can tell when I play in China right now on this tour, everyone knows the older stuff. So if I’m doing… everybody knows that. Or… the first day of the tour, if you noticed, they were singing to this melody to this tone. But the crowd is actually singing it. I would just stop and… So, that’s my hope now with getting on Youku, Weibo that the fans now will know the new material. It’s like a whole new… have all this music I want everyone to hear now.
答：有，有的。事实上，这就是我在美国的时候没法把音乐传到中国的问题。我之后又出了两张专辑，一张是《212》，我对这张专辑感到非常自豪。里面有几首非常棒的歌。还有一张新专辑，几个月前才发行的，叫做《Clyde the Cat》。我也对这张专辑感到非常骄傲。而我在中国演出的时候我也发现了，大家都比较熟悉那些老歌，大家都知道这个，或者这个。而巡演的第一天，不知道你注意到没有，他们跟着音乐的旋律哼歌，他们把旋律唱出来了。所以我就停下来，等他们唱。所以我希望，有了优酷和微博，这样我的粉丝能知道我的近况和新的音乐。我就可以把我的新歌分享给中国的粉丝们。
Q: And they’re gonna get the latest information.
问：而且这样我们就能知道最新的消息。
A: Yes, exactly. As soon as I get home I will post videos and music and I know we’re gonna do a promotion with GuitarChina. It’s gonna give a lot of my music away. So I want everyone to share and listen.
答：没错，正是这样。等我回到家，我就会上传一些视频或者音乐了，而且吉他中国也会帮我宣传，这样大家都能听见我的歌。我希望大家能一起分享。

A: Yeah. At home I have a bunch of amps. I use all different kinds. But I do have a few Blackstars I’ve record with them.

Q: So you’ve used them before.
问：所以你以前也用过Blackstar？
A: Yes, yeah! So I have two of them at home and in fact, I have a 1-12 Blackstar Series One 200 that I used for my last two records. The records are called <212> and <Clyde the Cat> and I would run a bunch of amps. It always sounds very good. So, it’s five watt amp.
答：没错。在家里我有两台Blackstar。我有一台1-12 Blackstar Series One 200，我在录制我最近的两张专辑时候用过。这两张专辑一张叫做《212》，另一张是《Clyde the Cat》，我用了很多种音箱。听起来非常棒，而且这又是5瓦的。
Q: We’ve also collected a few questions on Weibo. One of the questions was that, you know, a fan of yours is wondering if you could show him some, you know, if you have some secret techniques about sweeping.
问：我们也从微博上收集了一些问题。其中你的一个粉丝问道，你能不能展示一些扫拨的技巧，你有没有什么秘诀之类的？
A: Oh about sweeping, ok. The secret of sweeping is you have to do it slow. Because if you don’t do it slow, then this hand goes crazy, and this hand goes crazy. So it’s always about making sure that the hands are locking together. So if you get something really slow. For sweeping you want be sure that the pick is all down and all up. But you don’t want it individually pick each one. You want it fall at the next string, that’s the key. And actually for me, I don’t keep the pick straight. I actually…like a paint brush. So it goes really smooth so… But all that is just shapes. Also I will palmute. Just to get a little bit cleaner. So if I do a fast sweep. I’m palm muting. So it’s cleaning up a little bit.
答：哦，扫拨，没问题。扫拨的秘诀就是你必须放慢速度。因为如果你不放慢速度，你右手进入癫狂状态，你的左手也就跟着疯狂了。所以你必须把两只手良好地结合起来。所以如果你这样慢慢弹……扫拨的时候你的拨片是一直向下或者一直向上的。你不需要一根弦一根弦地弹，只要让拨片自然地落到下一根弦上就行了，这就是关键。而且就我而言，我不喜欢把拨片竖直起来，我会这样……就像拿着一把刷子，这样一来比较流畅。但这些都只是形式。我可以制音试一下，这样声音会更清晰。所以如果我扫拨得快的话……那现在我制音……这样声音更清晰一点。
Q: You just had the Weibo account like a few days ago and now you have over 1000 fans. You know I noticed that a few days ago when you were doing the show and, you know, all the fans down there they were singing ‘I’m alright’ along with you. So I’m just wondering, are there any new songs coming out? Or do you have a new record coming out any time soon or…?
问：你几天前才刚申请了微博账号，而现在你就有1000多个粉丝了。我也注意到几天前演出的时候，所有粉丝都在和你一起唱“I’m alright”。所以我就在想，你最近有出一些新歌吗？或者有新专辑的消息吗？
A: Yes, yes. In a fact, this is been the problem with me being in America and not being able to get my music to China. So I have actually, since I been here, I’ve released two records. One is called<212>, I’m really really proud of that record. It has some great songs on it. And then I have a new record I just released a few months ago. It’s called <Clyde the Cat>. And I’m really proud of that record too. And I can tell when I play in China right now on this tour, everyone knows the older stuff. So if I’m doing… everybody knows that. Or… the first day of the tour, if you noticed, they were singing to this melody to this tone. But the crowd is actually singing it. I would just stop and… So, that’s my hope now with getting on Youku, Weibo that the fans now will know the new material. It’s like a whole new… have all this music I want everyone to hear now.
答：有，有的。事实上，这就是我在美国的时候没法把音乐传到中国的问题。我之后又出了两张专辑，一张是《212》，我对这张专辑感到非常自豪。里面有几首非常棒的歌。还有一张新专辑，几个月前才发行的，叫做《Clyde the Cat》。我也对这张专辑感到非常骄傲。而我在中国演出的时候我也发现了，大家都比较熟悉那些老歌，大家都知道这个，或者这个。而巡演的第一天，不知道你注意到没有，他们跟着音乐的旋律哼歌，他们把旋律唱出来了。所以我就停下来，等他们唱。所以我希望，有了优酷和微博，这样我的粉丝能知道我的近况和新的音乐。我就可以把我的新歌分享给中国的粉丝们。

问：而且这样我们就能知道最新的消息。
A: Yes, exactly. As soon as I get home I will post videos and music and I know we’re gonna do a promotion with GuitarChina. It’s gonna give a lot of my music away. So I want everyone to share and listen.
答：没错，正是这样。等我回到家，我就会上传一些视频或者音乐了，而且吉他中国也会帮我宣传，这样大家都能听见我的歌。我希望大家能一起分享。
