John Mayer的第五张录音室专辑《Born & Raised》原本定于去年10月发行，但由于Mayer喉咙的问题不得不一再延期。这段时间，专辑的大部分人声演唱都没有录制，因为Mayer做完手术后需要数月的调养。如今，Mayer已基本康复，《Born & Raised》也有了一个新的发行日期——5月22日。据悉，Mayer将在本月中旬的奥斯丁SXSW音乐节上先行表演新专辑中的曲目。
《Born & Raised》的制作工作由Don Was和Mayer携手完成，客串嘉宾包括键盘手Chuck Leavell (曾与The Rolling Stones和The Allman Brothers合作) 、参与《Something Like Olivia》的Jim Keltner（曾与The Rolling Stones一起巡演）以及Mayer的长期合作伙伴David Ryan Harris等。
