北京时间2月9日上午，2005年度第48届格莱美奖颁奖盛典在美国洛衫矶斯台普斯中心隆重举
《69 Freedom Special》Les Paul & Friends “最佳摇滚乐器演奏”奖颁给90高龄的爵士吉他大师(Les Paul)也完全在意料之中。
出生于1915年的Les Paul影响了日后美国一大批知名的吉他演奏家，更难能可贵的是，90岁高龄的Les Paul在去年还录制发行了专辑《American Made World Played》，在近60年的艺术生涯当中，Les Paul只是在1976年获得过一次格莱美奖。
并且Les Paul也被誉为：上个世纪最伟大的100名吉他手电吉他的发明者之一，以他命名的Gibson系列电吉他是众多吉他手所追求拥有的乐器。Les Paul在他的吉他上使用一个”黑盒子”（他的另一项发明），能同时演奏出鼓、贝司、和弦和旋律的声音。Les Paul也是一个令人玄目的主音吉他手，他的演奏风格就象他的名字一样，充满了幽默的小技巧。

现代电吉他教父Steve Vai的2005新专集《Lotus Feet》获得本届格莱美提名，遗憾没有再度摘取格莱美大奖。
